Benefits of hemp tea: Can it relieve pain, aid digestion, or alleviate depression?

Nowadays, people are gradually becoming interested in the medicinal benefits of cannabis. It is a well-known natural analgesic that can relieve nausea and stimulate appetite in cancer patients. It has also been shown to be helpful in treating epilepsy, multiple sclerosis, and digestive disorders such as Crohn’s disease.

Dr. Ethan Russo, an expert on cannabis and its benefits, says that marijuana “is the most versatile herbal medicine and the most useful plant on Earth. No other single plant contains such a wide range of medically active plant compounds.”

1. Cannabis tea and pain relief

Marijuana is a powerful analgesic and has been used for centuries to treat painful conditions such as arthritis and other chronic diseases. Scientists have found that cannabinoids bind to individual pain receptors in the central nervous system, which can help suppress pain.

Cannabis works very differently from traditional painkillers such as opiates. Cannabis is not an addictive substance like codeine, morphine, or oxycontin. Therefore, cannabis users do not suffer from physical dependence or withdrawal symptoms when they stop using it. Experts increasingly agree that it is a safe and effective way to help manage many painful conditions.

When marijuana is absorbed through the digestive system, the onset of effects is slower, but they can last longer, which is why cannabis tea is one of the forms people choose when they want a milder and more gradual effect.

2. Cannabis tea and autoimmune diseases

The body’s immune response and inflammatory processes play an important role in autoimmune diseases. That is why, in recent years, research has been conducted into the relationship between cannabinoids and how they can affect certain processes in the body.

Research suggests that some cannabinoids may be related to the regulation of inflammatory responses, and their possible effect on the endocannabinoid system, which is involved in maintaining the body’s internal balance (homeostasis), is also being discussed. When the endocannabinoid system is not functioning properly, the immune system can target the body’s own cells, which can lead to inflammation and tissue damage.

If a person has been diagnosed with an autoimmune disease, it is always important to consult a doctor about the use of cannabis products, especially if they are taking immunosuppressants or other medications.

3. Cannabis tea and neuroprotective effects

During the war on drugs, there was an effort to link marijuana use to memory problems and even brain damage. However, the evidence does not support these claims; on the contrary. Recent studies have found that cannabis has neuroprotective effects. It appears that THC slows or even blocks the production of amyloid beta proteins, which are believed to cause Alzheimer’s disease.

Most studies on the effects of marijuana on memory have involved laboratory animals. In particular, older mice given low doses of cannabis were seen to perform better on individual tasks (e.g., remembering mazes) than mice given a placebo. Scientists now believe that cannabinoids could offer a new way to combat the cognitive decline that humans experience as they age.

4. Cannabis tea and the digestive system

There are endocannabinoid receptors in your body. When marijuana is smoked, most cannabinoids act on the brain. In contrast, drinking a cannabis beverage allows the cannabinoids to be absorbed by receptors in the digestive tract. This can help reduce spasms, constipation, stomach disorders, and diarrhea.

Marijuana was once used as a medicine to treat gastrointestinal problems.

5. Cannabis and its effect on anxiety and depression

Anxiety and depression can be caused by many factors. Neuronal inflammation or a lack of neurotransmitters such as serotonin can significantly affect people’s mental health. Some people describe how cannabis products can help them feel relaxed or slow down after a busy day.

However, it is important to note that the effects may vary and, in some people, may cause unpleasant symptoms (e.g., restlessness). If a person experiences anxiety, panic attacks, or depressive episodes, it is advisable to take a cautious approach and, ideally, consult a specialist.

Recipe for cannabis tea

Cannabis tea is a great way to enjoy the benefits of cannabinoids without the risks associated with smoking. They say that a cup of tea makes everything better. This is doubly true when it comes to cannabis tea. Here is a simple recipe for making it.

  • ½ tablespoon of butter
  • 1 ½ cups of water

You will need

  • 1 bowl
  • 1 tablespoon
  • 1 knife
  • 1 empty tea bag

Instructions

  1. Remove the stems and seeds from the cannabis. Use a kitchen knife to chop it up. You want it to be broken down and finely chopped.
  2. Add the cannabis and butter to the bowl. Stir until the cannabis is coated with butter.
  3. Add the mixture to the empty tea bag and close the bag.
  4. Place the tea bag in a pot of hot water and leave it there for about 30 minutes. Avoid boiling the water.
  5. Turn off the stove, remove the pot, and pour yourself a hot cup of cannabis tea. You can add milk or honey as desired.
