Cohiba Cigar Sizes Explained: Siglo I-VI, Robustos, Espléndidos and More

Which Cohiba sizes are there and how do they differ?

Cohiba makes around twenty regular sizes. The Línea 1492 (Siglo I to VI plus Medio Siglo) is the medium-bodied core of the range, the Línea Clásica (Robustos, Espléndidos, Lanceros, Coronas Especiales, Exquisitos, Panetelas) is medium-to-full, Maduro 5 adds a five-year-aged dark wrapper, and Behike is the full-strength flagship. Minis, Club, Shorts and Wide Shorts are machine-made cigarillos.

Cohiba is the flagship brand of Habanos S.A. It was established in 1966, its home is the El Laguito factory in Havana, and the handmade sizes use Vuelta Abajo leaf. A distinctive detail is that the seco and ligero filler leaves receive an extra, third fermentation, which is where the brand’s characteristic smoothness is usually attributed. This guide lists the sizes you will actually see on sale, what the vitola names mean, roughly how long each takes to smoke, and what to check before you buy Cohiba cigars online in the UK.

Siglo I to VI: dimensions and smoking time

The Siglo numbers do not run from mild to strong – all six share the same medium blend. They run, roughly, from short to long. Ring gauge is the diameter in 64ths of an inch, so a 52 ring gauge is 52/64 inch (about 20.6 mm) across.

Cigar Factory vitola Ring gauge x length Common name Approx. smoking time
Siglo I Perlas 40 x 102 mm (4 in) Petit corona (short) 25-30 min
Siglo II Marevas 42 x 129 mm (5 1/8 in) Petit corona 30-40 min
Siglo III Coronas Grandes 42 x 155 mm (6 1/8 in) Long corona 45-55 min
Siglo IV Coronas Gordas 46 x 143 mm (5 5/8 in) Grand corona 50-60 min
Siglo V Dalias 43 x 170 mm (6 3/4 in) Lonsdale 60-75 min
Siglo VI Cañonazo 52 x 150 mm (5 7/8 in) Robusto extra 75-90 min
Medio Siglo Medio Siglo 52 x 102 mm (4 in) Petit robusto 35-45 min
Dimensions from the Cuban Cigar Website; smoking times are approximate and depend on how you smoke.

Two practical notes. First, the Cañonazo factory vitola is used only for the Siglo VI, which is one reason it is the most sought-after (and most copied) size. Second, the Medio Siglo combines the Siglo I’s length with the Siglo VI’s ring gauge, so it is the quickest way to try a 52-gauge Cohiba.

Línea Clásica, Maduro 5 and Behike sizes

Machine-made Cohibas: Minis, Club, Shorts and Wide Shorts

Not every Cohiba is a hand-rolled Habano. The Minis, Club, Shorts and Wide Short are machine-made in Cuba from Cuban tobacco and sold in tins or packs. They are the entry point on price – single Shorts and Wide Shorts are listed at roughly £6-£11, packs of ten Minis at about £40 and 100-piece cartons (10 x 10 or 20 x 5) at around £108 – and they take 10-20 minutes to smoke. As listed by the brand: Minis are about 95 mm long with a 26 ring gauge; Wide Shorts are about 100 mm long with a 32 ring gauge. Treat them as a cigarillo rather than a shortcut to the handmade range.

What Cohiba cigars cost in the UK

Prices move with Habanos S.A. releases and exchange rates, so always check the product page. As a guide to relative cost from our current listings: single handmade Cohibas run from around £45 for a Siglo I to roughly £170 for an Espléndidos or Pirámides Extra, with the Siglo VI at about £135-£145 as a single or tubo. Boxes of ten or twenty-five cost from roughly £450 (Maduro 5 Secretos, 10) to more than £1,300 (Siglo VI, 10; Medio Siglo, 25). Tubos (aluminium tubes) add a little to the price but protect the cigar in transit and in a pocket.

How to check a Cohiba is genuine

Cohiba is widely described as the most counterfeited cigar brand in the world, so buy from a retailer that states where its stock comes from and be sceptical of prices far below the market. Points to check on arrival:

  • Habanos warranty seal on the box: green-and-white with a hologram and a barcode/serial that can be checked on the Habanos S.A. website.
  • Box stamps: “Habanos s.a.” and “Hecho en Cuba / Totalmente a mano” for handmade sizes, plus a factory code and date stamp.
  • Bands: current bands are embossed with a hologram and, on Behike, security holograms with microprinting. Fuzzy printing or flat, glossy paper is a warning sign.
  • Consistency: matching colour across a box, firm but not hard construction, and the characteristic pig-tail cap on Lanceros and some sizes.

Storage and UK buying notes

  • Keep handmade cigars in a humidor at roughly 65-70% relative humidity and 16-20 °C. Tubos and sealed tins help for a few weeks, but not indefinitely.
  • Cigars are age-restricted. We sell to adults 18+ only, and from 1 January 2027 UK law prohibits selling tobacco products to anyone born on or after 1 January 2009. From 29 October 2026 free tobacco give-aways and substantial promotional discounts are also prohibited.
  • Delivery: UK orders are tracked and usually arrive in 2-4 business days; see our shipping policy for Europe and what happens if a parcel is damaged. Excise or import rules may apply to deliveries outside the UK.

Quick answers

Which Cohiba is a good first cigar?

The Siglo I or Siglo II: medium-bodied, 25-40 minutes, and the least expensive handmade sizes. The Medio Siglo is the short route to a thicker 52 ring gauge.

Is the Siglo VI stronger than the Siglo I?

No. All Siglo sizes use the same medium blend; the VI is longer and thicker, so it burns cooler and shows more development over 75-90 minutes.

What is the difference between Cohiba Robustos and Siglo VI?

The Robustos is 50 x 124 mm from the medium-to-full Línea Clásica; the Siglo VI is 52 x 150 mm from the medium Línea 1492. The VI is longer and generally smoother.

Are Cohiba Minis real Cohibas?

Yes, they are made in Cuba by Habanos S.A., but they are machine-made cigarillos, not the handmade long-filler cigars in the tables above.

How long do Cohibas keep?

Indefinitely in a properly maintained humidor; many people find the Siglo range improves with two or more years of age.
