THC Vape Pen Not Hitting? 7 Fixes That Actually Work

A pen that lights but produces no vapour is the most common troubleshooting search in the vape category. Most cases are clogs, cold oil or contact problems – all fixable.

Work through these in order

  • Warm the cartridge in your hands for 2 minutes (cold oil is too thick to flow)
  • Take two or three gentle priming draws without firing
  • Check the battery contact: wipe the centre pin and cart base with a dry cotton bud
  • Lower the voltage if adjustable – high heat can flood and choke the coil
  • Clear the airway: pull softly through the mouthpiece with the cart off the battery
  • Charge fully: a weak battery clicks but cannot heat the coil
  • Let it rest upright for an hour after any fix so oil resettles

When it is truly dead

If the pen is a sealed disposable and warming plus charging changes nothing, the coil or battery has failed. Disposables are not designed to be opened, and forcing them open risks leaks and short circuits.

Quick answers

Why does my pen clog so often?

Thick live-resin oil plus cool storage equals clogs. Store upright at room temperature.

Is a blinking light always a clog?

No – blinking patterns usually report battery state; see our battery-blinking guide.
