Why Does My Vape Taste Burnt? Causes and Fixes

A burnt first puff ruins a product and drives thousands of searches. The cause is almost always the wick heating without enough oil on it.

The usual suspects

  • Chain vaping: rapid puffs outpace oil flow, so the wick burns dry
  • Voltage too high for the oil thickness
  • Cold or nearly empty cartridge
  • A brand-new cart fired before oil soaked the wick

Fix it in five minutes

  • Rest the pen upright for 10-15 minutes
  • Drop voltage to 2.4-2.8V
  • Prime new carts: two unpowered draws, wait five minutes
  • Slow your pace: 20-30 seconds between puffs

Quick answers

Is burnt vapour harmful?

Occasional dry hits are mainly unpleasant; repeated burning degrades oil and irritates throats – avoid it.

Does a burnt taste mean a fake cart?

Not by itself – but combined with other red flags, treat the cart as suspect.
